It was the only mass-produced Japanese fighter of the war to use a liquid-cooled inline V engine. The three miniatures of this fighter featured were piloted by Jotohei Matsumi Nakano, Shosa Teruhiko Kobayashi and Daii Chuichi Ichikawa, from the Imperial Japanese Army.
